RANDOM X EIGHT
I told Morning Glory I would do this Meme. Seems this one and one other for 8 items have been going around a lot lately. So, I’m going to make this one for 8, if I can think of that many random thoughts. That shouldn’t be too hard—most of my thoughts are rather random!
Here are the rules. This is the Seven (8) Random Things about Me Meme. The rules are that people who are tagged start by thinking about 7 random facts/habits about themselves. Each player then must write about those seven things on their blog, as well as include these rules. Players then need to choose 7 people to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to let each person know they’ve been tagged. I’m doing eight items and calling it both memes. So here are 8 things about me:
1. For years our family spent Thanksgiving at Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky—At Lake Barkley Lodge. We went there for about twenty-five years--starting when the boys were about 6 and 8). A lot of those years we went to Patti’s in Grand River on Friday--a little shopping and some GOOD food! We have many fond family memories of those yearly retreats!
2. I have ridden a camel and an elephant. The camel was when we were on a trip to Israel. You know, those animals can be very cantankerous! The elephant was at a zoo with my oldest grandson when he was four--the grand, not the elephant. I think she was much older! No one else would ride with him—it was fun!
3. My ears do not look the same. It is not an extreme difference nor really even noticeable. but I know it--I don’t wear my hair so that my ears show. Now if we ever mirl I will know you are lookin’ at my ears!
4. I broke my toe on our honeymoon. Well, we were actually back from our “official” two-day honeymoon, but it was right after we got married. You can read the story of our wedding here. I was running to the phone—my Aunt Frankie was calling??!!—and hit my toe on a box of books. My toe curves to the right a little from that little accident—and it hurt, too.
OK—enough about my strange bo**dy parts!
5. I love Mexican food! I like basic Tex-Mex, but I would drive from Tennessee to Santa Fe just to eat the food!
6. I love to learn and I like to get credit for the hard work. Therefore, I attended three different universities and received a degree from each. What’s really amazing about that is that my high school teachers—and a lot of my friends—probably thought I would not make it through college the first time. I wasn‘t really all that serious about learning in high school!
7. If I’m going to Santa Fe (see #8 this list) for food, the trip will also include a stop at The Bobcat Bite--on the Pecos Trail--for a hamburger. YUMMMMMMM!
I don’t really eat all of the time!
8. I am allergic to mornings. I used to be a morning person. I was up by 5:30 a.m. and on the road before 6:30. My goal was to be in my office before 7:00 a.m because teachers, etc. hit the door about 7:30. I never knew what would happen after that! LOL In retirement—Mornings, not so much! Of course, I stay up later—BLOGGING and READING. Ah-h-h-h! Retirement!
I really don't know who has done theis and who has not. So, it’s up to you! If you want to-- and haven’t done these latest memes--give us seven or eight random thoughts about yourself. Let me know in my comments when you have done it—I’ll be sure to come over and read your randomness.

I like reading these because I enjoy learning more about people. I'm like you with education. I was ready to quit during my first semester in college - it was a struggle - but I did it and got a teaching job (PE) and went on to get a master's in health ed. I learned so much from all the people I met along the way!
I'm allergic to mornings too - unfortunately my children didn't inherit that!
Fun read. I'm from Santa Fe but not familiar with the cafe on Pecos Trail :o( Riding a camel and a elephant....you are more adventureous than me!!!!

Oh, and I wanted to say thank you for your sweet comments on my blog! :)
I love learning these types of things about people.
Wow! Three different degrees.
I have also ridden an elephant and a camel:)
Great list! I love Tex Mex as well!
Ouch on the broken toe. When Bill broke his big toe there was nothing to be done for it at all.
I did this meme last week!
:)
Great random list! I love learning more about my cyberspace friends. Three degrees! Wow! I was determined NOT to go to college even though I took all of the college courses in high school and my guidance counselor was aghast that I was going to beauty school to become a hairdresser. It worked out beautifully and I worked right out of my home most of my years of working which was nice when my son was young. I was always home and never needed child care. I admire you for going and doing so much!
You did it! Fun facts.
I think Aunt Frankie should have paid the bill to get the toe fixed for having the nerve to call someone so soon after getting married!! ha!
Wow, three degrees- very impressive!
I loved reading these and learning more about you! :)
I use to be so allergic to mornings...It's a little easier for me these days (since I had babies) but back in my single days I loved working swing shift and staying up to watch Johnny Carson and the late late old movies! :)
