Autumn Glory
This year we have had crazy weather! We had a very late freeze in the spring that caused a lot of trees, shrubs, and flowers distress at the beginning of our normal growing season. Then we had one of the hottest summers on record for our area. Many school systems in the area even cancelled classes early in September because of the unbearable heat! In addition, we suffered through a devastating drought that lasted most of the summer and into fall.
Many people predicted that the fall colors that we enjoy every year would not be very vibrant. It appeared, for awhile, that those people might be right. We usually hit the peak of the color season several weeks before now. This year, however, the trees changed color very slowly. Some of them just seemed to be losing leaves with little change in color.
THEN, just a day or two ago, I began noticing a difference in the Autumn Glory Maple tree in our backyard. I began to think that, maybe, there was hope for color after all. This is what I saw off our deck yesterday:
Last night we had a storm--lightening, thunder, rain, and wind. The temperature dropped significantly during the night. I just knew the storm would strip the trees of the leaves before we had really gotten our fill of the color that was beginning to really pop!
This afternoon, as I drove through the neighborhood--This is what I saw:

Our weather has been much the same, Myrna. Seems like our leaves have really turned in just the last week or so!
Gorgeous pictures. It looks like a lot of the scenery here in my part of the South. Glorious!
But I love the Winter that follows the Autumn. If it never got above 80 degrees I'd be deliriously content. ;o)
Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!
Love and hugs,
Diane
And God paints a beautiful picture.

How beautiful - I'm so glad you are getting to enjoy God's incredible artwork!
Our leaves are all gone now - well, they are not on the trees anymore. Strange how they don't look so pretty piled up against the fence!
God is so good - to give you such a gift just when you thought there was no hope!
Just beautiful pictures!! How blessed we are to have the beauty of fall!

Thanks in advance for the help!!
The pictures are beautiful. I really need to take some pictures of the trees around here before all the leaves fall.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful colors of autumn in your part of the country. They are just beautiful.
