The extent of my on-line blogging today is to tell people to go to someone else's post!
Off-line--a different story. I have been trying all day to plug into our scanner. We have two--I've never used either of them. I used a scanner a few times at school, but usually I gave that sort of task to our media specialist or asked a computer savy teacher to do it. My computer skills are definitely more in the word processing and Power Point areas. But, since I have a million nondigital pictures I want to share--NOT ALL AT ONE TIME--I Promise I won't do that! In order to share I have to get this scanner working with my computer.
The scanner I have been working with today is a part of our combo printer/phone/copier/fax/scanner machine, or device. The directions talk about the machine and the device--I'm so confused now I'm not sure when they are talking about the computer and when they are talking about the scanner! Yes, it has been a difficult day in computerville!
We've had this machine/device for a year, and I've used all the other parts without incident. I finally decided it was time to master the scanner. WELL--I've been trying to understand these directions all day. Can someone please tell me why technology experts cannot write a simple point-by-point set of directions? Just list the steps 1-2-3! I gave up on the umpteenth time I tried to tell the "machine" or "device" the IP Address only to have it not accept it AGAIN. I must not have been holding my tongue exactly right!
Mr. L took pity on me and called our friendly computer whiz friend to come help! I hate giving in, but I really want to use these pictures sometime in this millennium, so I need help!

But, just get ready! When I get that thing working, we'll have a picture fest at Cherish. . .! Yes, we will!

Good luck getting your scanner working!

I hate to tell you this, but as illiterate as we are at this computer/scanner/digital/device trickery, a third grader could sit down and press a few buttons without fear and have that thing zinging away in about 3.2 minutes.
So ... don't you have a grandchild that would do this for a few home baked cookies as payment???? LOL and GOOD LUCK!
Oh, Myrna you have me laughing. The three year old indeed! And yes, we have done the "new driver" with our older two so we take things in pretty good stride. There is always a worry niggling at my mama's brain I guess. But God loves them even more than we do so I trust Him with that thought.
Sounds a bit frustrating. Mine is very easy peasy or I'm sure that you would not see nearly as many old photos on mine as you do!
Good luck!!
:)
Myrna, You are way ahead of me! I haven't tried the scanner yet. My husband, thankfully, has done that for me.....I need to bite the bullet and become 'independent'.
Thank you for coming by to visit and taking the time to leave a comment about Justin....Betty
Trust you will get it all worked out. I spent literally weeks, about a month ago, scanning pictures from our childhood forward. I still have over 600 35mm slides that I cannot scan and have to figure out something for them. They are our girls childhood ---- I've got to have them.

I can relate-seems like I'm always spending hours trying to figure this stuff out! Hope it comes together for you real soon!
Have a great day in spite of the frustration!
Blessings to You!-Claudia O.
It is so frustrating having to ask for help. My computer help usually comes from my kids which makes me feel like a real LOSER! Good luck getting it working...can't wait to see some pics.
I love your advice - pace myself indeed! We are having fun now :)
I need a scanner too as I have some old pictures that I want to share with you all. I had one but it did weird things to my computer so I unplugged it and it is sitting in the basement! GRRRRRRRR... I think I will go buy JUST a scanner, nothing else just one that scans and see how I get along with it!
